Timeline: I try to have a quick turn-over time on commissions, and I want to be in contact with you as much as possible. For small things like sketches, badges and art cards, I can be finished in 24 hours. Larger and more involved pieces can take upwards of a week or more.
Updates and Revisions: I will update you with a rough sketch, lineart, and flat colors. Once I get all of that approved by you, I'll begin shading. For quicker things like basic sketches, I won't automatically send updates, but will gladly do so if requested.
Because I work digitally, it's easier for me to make revisions as I go. However, once I get to the flat color stage, I no long make major revisions. It's very important for the commissioner to tell me specific details that must be included. Once the lineart is finished, a completely different pose or character is a second commission, not a minor change. If a change like this is required, the cost will go up 50% to cover the cost of a second commission.
Content: I'm comfortable with most things, but I do not draw adult material. I will do pin-ups and tasteful nudity, but nothing pornographic. I will draw original characters in the style of an existing fandom, but not licensed characters (ex: I will draw your character as a my little pony, but not Rainbow Dash).
Image rights: I retain the right to keep a copy of the original work and display it for promotional purposes. In the case of traditional media works, the commissioner always gets the original. In the case of digital works, the commissioner always gets the highest resolution version but not the working Photoshop files. I will not post full resolution versions of commissioned digital art online. If requested, I will send a high resolution print at any requested size. Reproduction rights to commissioned work can be negotiated for an additional charge. The commissioner may repost the art wherever they like, but may not take credit for the piece and ought to post it with a link back to my page somewhere. The piece may not be used for commercial purposes without first negotiating the right to do so.
Shipping: Within the US/Canada, traditional pieces that fit in a regular envelope will cost only the price of a stamp and you won't be charged. Digital pieces will include the cost of printing (which varies by size). Large prints will be sent in a poster tube. I can't give a precise estimation of cost without first knowing the size of the piece. International shipping is another step up.
Payment and Refunds: I prefer PayPal for everything. A full refund will only be given for a commission that has been paid for but not yet started. Once I start working on a commission there will be no refund of anything at all unless for some reason I am the one to cancel it. If I cancel a commission in progress for reasons relating to customer behavior I will refund the commissioner an amount which is the total minus the percent of the work which I have already completed. I will scan and send the completed portion of the work without charging shipping. If I need to cancel a commission for personal health or family reasons I will first offer the progress so far to the commissioner at a discount and then refund their payment minus any they are willing to pay for the partially completed work with my greatest apologies. Refunds for bartered goods will be made in the cash value of the item plus any shipping required to get it to me.
