The Lucky Cat
Jake never believed in luck—until he found the cat.
It was a scruffy orange tabby sitting outside his apartment, staring at him like it had been waiting. Feeling sorry for it, Jake gave it some leftover chicken. The next day, he got an unexpected job offer.
"Must be a coincidence," he muttered.
But then, his favorite coffee shop gave him a free pastry, he found a $20 bill on the sidewalk, and his team won the office lottery. The cat, now named Lucky, purred smugly whenever Jake came home.
One evening, he jokingly asked, "Are you magic?"
Lucky yawned, stretched, and knocked a salt shaker off the table.
Jake sighed. "Yeah, that checks out."
